Pedro y El Lobo Un Evento Bilingüe Para La Familia Latina-Dante Hall Theater

ATLANTIC CITY/BRIDGETON, NJ- Disfruten de un regalo musical para niños y adultos, la famosa sinfonía infantil Pedro y El Lobo del compositor Prokofiev que será presentada como un concierto bilingüe e infantil por La Orquesta de Cámaras Bay Atlantic (Bay Atlantic Chamber Orchestra) dirigida por Jed Gaylin, el domingo 12 de Abril a las 3 de la tarde, en el Dante Hall Theater de la Universidad Stockton, localizado en la Avenida Mississippi número 14 en Atlantic City, Nueva Jersey.

El reconocido artista dominicano Carlos Espinal, narrara la obra en español y el artista Paul Brodo, graduado de la Universidad Stockton será el narrador de la obra en el idioma inglés.

Desde que Prokofiev compuso Pedro y El Lobo, hace casi 80 años, se ha grabado y presentado en múltiples idiomas por una cantidad de actores y actrices, estrellas de televisión y radio, lideres políticos y otras personalidades, sin nunca perder su hechizo y su habilidad de encantar y entretener.

Aunque el concierto es gratuito, los asientos deben reservarse llamando a la oficina de boletería del Teatro Dante Hall al número telefónico (609) 347-2162 o visitando  la página web del Teatro  Dante Hall en la siguiente dirección: www.stockton.edu/dante. Los asientos se asignaran según la llegada al teatro.  La sala se abrirá una hora antes de comenzar la función.

Sobre Carlos Espinal
Carlos Espinal, nacido en Santo Domingo, capital de La Republica Dominicana, es uno de los actores de la escena  más importante de ese país, además de aclamado director y productor. Después de recibir entrenamiento en la carrera de la actuación en su país natal, se trasladó a Nueva York en donde se graduó del American Musical and Dramatic Academy, luego fue director artístico del Teatro La Tea. Entre las obras que ha protagonizado se encuentran: Amadeus, Drácula, Las Mariposas Son Libres, Pantallas, La Ultima Diva, Los Gallos Salvajes, Orquesta De Señoritas, Quarters, The Yes  Men, El Relato De Norberto, entre otras.  Carlos ha viajado su arte por Los Estados Unidos, Puerto Rico, Chile, México, República Dominicana, entre otros.

Entre sus créditos se encuentran trabajos en el Teatro Repertorio Español,  Teatro IATI, Sociedad Educativa De Las Artes, Prometeo y Teatro Arte Unido. Como actor ha sido visto como Chuy Badillo en la serie televisiva Law and Order y ha tenido una importante carrera en miniseries de televisión en la República Dominicana.
En 1993 fue invitado a interpretar el personaje de Calígula en la obra del mismo nombre, del autor Albert Camus, en el Teatro Nacional de la República Dominicana y fue nominado como Mejor Actor del año por los premios Casandra.  Además entre sus créditos se encuentran haber sido la voz de Café A La Media Noche, el programa más relevante de la media noche en su momento en la República Dominicana. Su interpretación de Molina en el aclamado musical internacional El Beso De La Mujer Araña del autor Terrence McNally, le valió excelentes críticas y un reconocimiento como Mejor Actor del Año. En el 2011 hizo gira con 30 Years Of Love, Passion & Tears- una presentación y exhibición de su carrera teatral y trabajo poético, también, dirigió Master Class del autor Terrence McNally, Mejor Producción, Mejor Actriz Cecilia García.  Al siguiente año estreno su unipersonal Pedro El Rojo, The Gorilla en el Teatro Dante Hall, un monólogo bilingüe sobre inmigración y transculturización que le mereció el reconocimiento de Mejor Actor del Año por los premios Soberano, en su estreno en la República Dominicana.  En Mayo del 2013 dirigió el éxito internacional Glorious del autor inglés Peter Quilter.

Sobre Paul Brodo
 En la actualidad cursa su último semestre en la Universidad Stockton, Paul Brodo ha sido actor de teatro por los últimos 10 años. Después de su graduación realizará su maestría en Bellas Artes con una concentración en dirección. Sus créditos como actor incluyen Sr. Paravicini en La Ratonera, Jonathan Brewster en Arsénico y Encaje Antiguo, Mitch en Un Tranvía Llamado Deseo, Lennie Small en Ratones Y Hombres, Chief Bromden en Alguien Voló Sobre El Nido Del Cuco y Babis en El Patio De Los Milagros.

ATLANTIC CITY/BRIDGETON, NJ—Enjoy a musical treat for young and old alike as Sergei Prokofiev’s beloved children’s symphony Peter and the Wolf will be presented in a special free bilingual children’s concert by the Bay Atlantic Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Jed Gaylin, on Sunday, April 12, at 3 p.m., at Dante Hall Theater of Stockton University, 14 N. Mississippi Ave., Atlantic City, NJ.

Acclaimed Dominican actor Carlos Espinal will narrate the work in Spanish and Paul Brodo, a Theater Performance major at Stockton University will narrate the work in English.

Peter and the Wolf, since being composed by Prokofiev almost 80 years ago, has been performed and recorded in many languages by a host of actors and actresses, television and radio stars, political leaders, and other personalities, has never lost its charm or its ability to enchant and entertain.

Though the concert is free, seats must be reserved by calling the Dante Hall Theater Box office at (609) 347-2162 or visiting the Dante Hall Theater’s website at www.stockton.edu/dante. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The hall will open one hour prior to performance time.

About Carlos Espinal
Carlos Espinal, born in Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic, is one of the most important stage actors of his country, in addition to being an acclaimed director, producer, and writer. After receiving training and starting his acting career in his native country, he went to New York, where he graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and went on at act and director for Teatro La Tea there.

Among his credits are work at Repertorio Español, Circulo Theater, IATI Theater, Sociedad Educativa de Las Artes, Prometeo, and Teatro Arte Unido. As an actor, he has been seen as Chuy Badillo in the TV show Law and Order and has had a long and active career in Dominican television.

In 1993, he was invited to perform the play Caligula at the National Theatre and was nominated Best Actor of the year for the “El Casandra Awards.” In addition his other credits, he was also was the voice of Cafe A La Media Noche (Midnight Coffee), the most relevant late-night radio show of the Dominican Republic. His portrayal of Molina in the internationally acclaimed musical The Kiss of The Spider Woman by Terrence McNally won him outstanding reviews and an award as Best Actor of the Year. In 2011 he toured in 30 Years Of Love, Passion & Tears—an exhibit and performance of his theater career and work as a poet and  Master Class by Terrence McNally, “Best Production 2011”.  The following year he presented at Dante Hall Theater his one-man show Peter El Rojo, The Gorilla—a bilingual monologue about immigration and acculturation, Best Actor of The Year  2014“. In May 2013, he directed the international success Glorious by Peter Quilter.

About Paul Brodo
Currently in his final semester at Stockton University, Paul Brodo has been acting on stage for the past 10 years. After graduation, he intends to pursue his Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing. His acting credits include Paravicini in The Mousetrap, Jonathan Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace, Mitch in A Streetcar Named Desire, Lennie Small in Of Mice and Men, Chief Bromden in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Babis in The Courtyard of Miracles.
